Guide to Choosing the Best Materials For High Quality Paintings

There are a lot of cheap painting materials which can be found in the market today but one must remember that these would not be enough in creating high quality paintings. In paint brushes for example, you have to have some guidelines in choosing brushes for oil creations. The same goes for other type of paintings. Basically, the best brushes are those that are made with sable or hog materials. Even though they are a bit expensive compared to the standard paint brushes, they are highly recommended because they can last longer and produce more solid lines. Brushes made with synthetic fibers are also good options but as an artist, you have to have at least one of the flat and round type brushes because these brushes are not so versatile.
Other important painting materials are the palette knives and painting palettes. These are used to place and mix the paint on and there are different types of palette knives which can also be used much like paint brushes. An artist also must always have a cranked palette knife and miniature flexible painting knives on his set.
In creating paintings, glazes and varnishes are also very important materials. Glazes are applied to artworks in thin layers that helps increase the transparency as well as the adhesiveness of the acrylic. A glaze can also be used in creating impastos if the painter desires to make thick or translucent impastos. Glazes can make the acrylic paint stays longer almost without fading. Using glazes is particularly helpful during warm days when paints can dry faster. As for the varnishes, these can be used to protect
the surface of the acrylic paintings.
